Armstrong World Industries (Australia) Pty Ltd, Australia's only manufacturer of resilient floor coverings, was awarded the Keep Australia Beautiful – Sustainable Cities Litter and Waste Management Award 2006.

Armstrong's two Australian manufacturing sites save in excess of 460 tonnes of post consumer & post industrial waste from going to land fill every year, by bringing normally discarded plastics like PVC drink bottles, HDPE plastic shopping bags & vinyl flooring off cuts, and recycling them into new vinyl floor coverings.

“We were delighted to be recognised, these sorts of awards demonstrate the sort of positive Environmental impact Australian manufacturers can have on our local waste streams. The environmental world is sometimes awash with bad news stories, but companies such as ours using what is normally litter, and giving it a new life is something that all 190 Armstrong employees are extremely proud of. Our next environmental goal is to take back flooring at the end of its service life, for recycling into new product” said Armstrong's National Sales Manager of Commercial Flooring Rob McLorinan.
