Clouds and Canopies provide acoustical sound absorption to ensure sound isolation in exposed structures. Learn about the acoustic ceiling products recommended for exposed structures from Armstrong.

Exposed Structure

Exposing a building’s mechanical infrastructure might provide a specific design aesthetic but it is to the detriment of its acoustical performance.

Not only is the sound isolation and absorption decreased, but the apparent volume of the space is increased. This results in higher background noise and longer reverberation. Discrete sound absorbing units like clouds, canopies, and acoustical deck treatments can reclaim some of the lost acoustical performance while maintaining the design intent.
